How to Stay in the Race When You Feel Like Quitting.

If you think you are in last place, Keep running!

📖 “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.” – Hebrews 12:1-2

We all face moments when we wonder if we’re truly cut out for the path we’re on. Maybe it’s in our career, where setbacks make us feel unqualified. Maybe it’s in parenting, where exhaustion and self-doubt creep in. Maybe it’s in ministry, where we wonder if our efforts are making a real impact.

I’ve been there.

➡ I’ve wrestled with anxiety over getting things just right and the fear of falling short.

➡ I’ve shut down over technology failures and unexpected roadblocks.

➡ I’ve questioned, “Maybe I’m not the right person for this.”

The temptation to quit always comes when progress is right around the corner.

What Perseverance Really Means

Perseverance isn’t about having all the answers. It’s not about perfection, never making mistakes, or always feeling confident. It’s about staying in the race even when it feels hard, frustrating, or uncertain.

And here’s the key: Where you fix your eyes will determine how far you can go.

📖 “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.” – Hebrews 12:1-2

➡ If we focus on our own weaknesses, we’ll feel like we’re failing.

➡ If we focus on obstacles, we’ll be overwhelmed.

➡ If we focus on Jesus, we’ll find strength to keep going.

What Does Fixing Your Eyes on Jesus Look Like in Daily Life?

1️⃣ Let Go of What’s Slowing You Down

📖 “…Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” – Hebrews 12:1

We can’t run well when we’re carrying extra weight, whether that’s self-doubt, comparison, or the fear of failure. What’s one thing you need to lay down today so you can move forward?

2️⃣ Remember the “Why” Behind Your Race

📖 "...For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame..."  Hebrews 12:2

There will be moments when quitting feels easier than continuing. But when we keep our eyes on the bigger purpose, it changes everything. What’s your ‘why’? Who are you showing up for?

3️⃣ Trust God’s Process, Even When You Can’t See the Finish Line

📖 “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” – Philippians 1:6

God doesn’t bring us into something just to leave us stranded. Even when things don’t go as planned, He is still working.

Keep Running—He’s Not Finished With You Yet

I don’t know what race you’re running right now. Maybe you’re navigating a career shift, growing your business, leading a team, or juggling faith, family, and responsibilities.

No matter what it is, don’t let frustration, fear, or setbacks take you out of the race.

✨ Fix your eyes on Jesus. Keep moving forward. Trust that He’s working, even when you can’t see it.
