Unlocking the Power of God's Favor to Overcome Anxiety

Ever wondered how the favor of God impacts with anxiety? Picture this: when you're assured of God's favor, worry fades away, replaced by a trust in divine assistance. Understanding the path to gaining God's favor becomes a key to dismissing anxiety and depression, paving the way for a life filled with joy and peace

Much like battling anxiety with scripture, the favor of God follows a similar principle. Proverbs 5:3-4 advises, "Do not let grace (favor) and truth (scripture) leave you. Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart." This merging of favor (grace) and truth (scripture) earns esteem in the eyes of both God and people.

Here, grace, synonymous with favor, implies undeserved favor. Remarkably, we have control over keeping favor and scripture with us. Binding them to ourselves and writing them on our hearts involves the continual act of reading and filling our minds with scripture, cultivating thoughts aligned with Philippians 4:8—thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, virtuous, praiseworthy, and of good report.

Distinguishing the heart, our emotional center, from the mind, our center of reason and imagination,  God urges us to etch favor and scripture into our hearts. The result? An emotional center filled with love, kindness, and the fulfillment of scriptural promises.  A life of kindness towards those who spitefully use you and of kindness to your enemies.

Attaining such an attitude starts with acknowledging God's favor. John 12:26 declares, "If any man serves me (Jesus), him will my Father honor." Numbers 6:25-26 promises God's radiant face, graciousness, and the gift of peace—His favor. This divine honor manifests as preferential treatment, God looking upon us favorably, and granting peace—something crucial in the face of anxiety and depression.

In the midst of life's challenges, Romans 8:31-32 encourages us with the assurance that if God is for us, who can be against us? Having already sacrificed His Son for us, God, out of His love, will generously provide all things. And in the face of potential adversaries, Romans 8:38-39 firmly asserts that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

The key lies in persuasion. Romans 8:38-39 echoes Paul's persuasion that nothing—life, angels, principalities, powers, present or future circumstances—cansever our connection with God's love.  Persuade yourself by reading, thinking, reciting, believing and filling your mind with God's promises.

Therefore, let's shift our focus. Instead of dwelling on what's wrong, let's immerse ourselves in the love of God. Expect to triumph, anticipate a turnaround in your circumstances, and confidently await the shining of God's favor upon you. Draw inspiration from the stories of Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, David, and countless others who basked in the warmth of God's favor.
