“What if the waters aren’t here to drown you, but to reveal your dominion?”
God didn’t promise calm seas, but He gave you power to walk above them.
You standing on the shore in your dream, facing a tsunami and declaring, “You shall come no farther.” Job 38:11.
Are You Afraid of the Waters?
You don’t have to fear the flood when you’ve been given authority over the waters.
Have You Ever Felt Like You Were Drowning?
Like wave after wave just wouldn’t stop coming?
I had a dream once, so vivid I can still feel it in my body.
I stood alone on the beach and watched a tsunami rise from the horizon. It was massive. Terrifying. Rolling toward me like it intended to destroy.
And I didn’t run.
I raised my hand, and from deep within, I declared the words of Job 38:11:
“Thus far you shall come, and no farther. Here shall your proud waves stop.”
And the water obeyed.
It was a dream, yes—but it was also a message.
The same authority that Jesus demonstrated on the sea of Galilee?
He handed it to us.
Not so we could avoid storms…
But so we could stand in them with authority.
The Waters Aren’t Your Enemy—Ignorance Is
Sometimes we get so focused on calming our fears that we forget we were never meant to be the ones afraid.
“You made them rulers over the works of Your hands; You put everything under their feet.”
—Psalm 8:6
That includes the waters, friend.
From Genesis to Revelation, God shows us that the seas don’t rule us—we’re meant to command them under His guidance.
Let’s walk through what that looks like.
3 Biblical Truths You Need to Know About Authority and the Waters
1. You’ve Been Given Authority Over Nature
Jesus didn’t just walk on water to prove a point—He showed us what’s possible for those who walk in faith.
“Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand… “Why did you doubt?”
—Matthew 14:30–31
Like Peter, we will sink if we doubt the One who called us forward.
But He will always reach when we call out.
And when you stand in your authority, the storm won’t win.
2. The Waters Have a Boundary—and You Can Enforce It
Over and over, God makes one thing clear:
“I said to the waters: ‘This far you may come and no farther.’”
—Job 38:11
The enemy may send a flood, but he doesn’t control the shoreline.
God does. And He gave you the legal authority to speak His Word as law.
When you feel like you're drowning in fear, stress, or overwhelm, speak the boundary.
“Peace. Be still.” (Mark 4:39) Still works.
3. Your Seat in Christ Means You Don’t Fight the Waves—You Govern Them
You’re not just saved. You’re seated.
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms.”
—Ephesians 2:6
That means you don’t beg for peace.
You don’t plead for calm.
You declare the will of Heaven—right here, on earth.
When You Understand Your Authority, You Stop Panicking—and Start Speaking
You stop saying:
And you start saying:
Whether you're planning summer travel, spending time near water, or simply navigating another wave of emotional or spiritual pressure…
Remember this:
You are not at the mercy of chaos.
You are an ambassador of order.
And your words, spoken in Christ, carry governmental weight.
The waters still listen.
Just like they did when He quieted them.
